Default Foreign Food Night

I was curious if other families had foreign food nights? If so, what is your favorite culture, and food to make? My family loves sushi, and I make it every now and then. I really want to add some spice to my dinners and try to make some foods from other countries. I am pretty sure an Old El Paso dinner kit doesn't count as Mexican food. I want to try to make some real foods and specialties from other countries.

We are Lebanese so we eat a lot of Mediterranean-middle eastern food. If you would like to try some Lebanese food, you can view tutorials at DedeMed - Free Mediterranean Middle Eastern Cooking Video Recipes - DedeMed - Free Mediterranean Middle Eastern Cooking Video Recipes

When we're not eating Lebanese food, I enjoy fixing Mexican, Italian and Indian food.

We eat a lot of Mexican and Italian in my house, so I don't classify those cuisines as specialty nights. When I want to make something different, I usually make sushi or Indian food. I like to cook and eat Greek food too, but my husband isn't a big fan of it so I don't make it that too often.

We love to incorporate many different foods. It's a great way to get healthy options into our diets. Like many Americans, I was raised to think that we had to have meat, potato and vegetable for every dinner. Adding foreign dishes definitely exposes my family to more types of vegetables, legumes and grains than the typical American diet.

It sounds like a neat idea but we don't do anything like that. We just sort of eat whatever we happen to find at the store. Sometimes it's foreign to us. I am curious about making your own sushi. Is it very difficult?

I did not find making sushi hard. I used crab meat and one avacodo. Make sure you get the rice, located in the Asian aisle. Regular rice is not sticky enough, to roll properly. The rice vinegar added to the rice, makes the sushi extra yummy. Thanks, for the new dinner ideas. I want to try Indian food, on our next foreign dinner night.
