Default Fruit/vegetable blemishes

Where do you draw the line and say a piece of fruit or a vegetable is inedible? My husband and I completely disagree on this. I am picky and I don't like to see any dark marks or soft spots on my produce. My husband will eat just about anything.

Most husbands will! Mine is a little picky and tells me that I never pick good fruit, then I offer him to go and do it himself and he gladly eats the food I bring home.

We eat whatever good parts there are. Usually a blemish or bad spot won't ruin the whole thing. Food's too expensive to be throwing out for a little bad spot.

I don't really know how but I just basically use my 'instinct' to identify or decide whether the spots or marks are harmful or something that I shouldn't be worried about.
