Default How to get grease off my kitchen cabinets

We recently purchased a new home and the people here before us obviously fried a lot. There is grease on the cabinets by the stove and I can not get it off. I have used degreasers and scrubbing pads with no success. Any ideas?

The first house we bought was like this. The cabinets were a dark stained wood and were really nasty. We used Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water to scrub them down. It was a big job but we managed it okay.

If it was a lot of grease, it may have softened the finish enough that you are probably trying to take the top layer of finish off. I would try Murphy's Oil Soap too. It's really hard to get that off. A lot of elbow grease and a good scrub several times is probably what it's going to take. Good luck!
