Default New Cookware

I just got a new non-stick cookware set and I found the instructions included tips to use. One of the tips was to season the non-stick cookware just as you season cast iron. I didn't know you had to do this with non-stick cookware. I did it anyway and it said to do it occasionally to keep the non-stick surface in tip-top shape. Have you ever seen instructions for non-stick cookware that included this?

I've never heard of this but I do know you can't put your cookware in cold water until it cools completely. It will warp it badly. I've warped every non-stick skillet I have doing that. When I get my next set at least I'll know not to do such a silly thing.

So that is why mine are all warped?! I wasn't aware, I honestly thought I had gotten them to hot on the stove top.

I also did not know that you were to season them. I've never seasoned mine like I did the cast irons. I have asked for new cookware for Christmas so I'll keep that in mind.

I have absolutely never heard of either of these issues before. I have never seasoned non-stick cookware and never have had a problem. I don't believe I've ever put a hot pan in cold water either so that hasn't been an issue for me. I deal with a retailer/vendor that sells non-stick cookware as their top seller for the kitchen. I will have to ask them about this and see what their research has found. Thanks for the interesting information.

I have never heard of either of these things but my skillets are warped so I guess I will try to avoid the cold water until they are cool. I had no idea about the seasoning either!
