Default Recipe: BRAISED CABBAGE

A friend sent me this. I'm thinking I might have to try it this weekend.

BRAISED CABBAGE

1 small head (1 1/2#) cabbage coarsely chopped
1 medium onion coarse sliced
2 carrots sliced on a diagonal
1 apple peeled, grated
1/2 tsp. caraway seed
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 cup chicken or vegetable stock

Combine ingredients in Dutch Oven toss, cover and bake @ 325 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

That sounds good. For some reason, we rarely have cabbage at home, but we like it.

That's probably a great recipe for trying to stretch the food budget. Cabbage is a pretty cost-effective vegetable, isn't it?

I think that would go well with sausage.

Excellent! I am always in the market for a good cabbage recipe. My husband is crazy for cabbage as well as sausage so I might take Taggart's suggestion and add some oink to it. Thanks for sharing
