Default Slow cooker and potatoes - help

When you use your slow cooker or Crockpot do you add potatoes? I’m been having a problem with the potatoes – they seem to turn color and get hard. I never had this problem before. What am I doing wrong? I add the meat (beef roast) then potatoes and carrots and a little water. The carrots and beef turn out fine, the potatoes not so good. Tips?

Well, wish I could help but I'm not sure what is going wrong. I cook roast all the time in my slow cooker and always add potatoes and they turn out fine. I add them the same way you do. Maybe after the roast cooks for a couple hours or so, you could dip in with a spoon and try to cover the potatoes with some of the juice?
