Default Stainless or non stick?

What is your preference in cookware? I used to be all about non stick pots and pans, but I've become concerned about the coating so I switched to a heavy stainless set. I'm pretty happy with it and as long as I let it soak for a few minutes it really isn't that much harder to clean.

I prefer cast iron myself but if I had to chose between the two you mentioned then I would say that I would prefer stainless steel. I am like you and worry about non stick coating.

I agree with you both about the coating, plus it always comes off, so I invested in some SKL pans made in Germany from the material used to make rockets. It's non stick without needing a coating and as heavy as cast with a lifetime guarantee.

I do miss my cast iron, esp. for cooking eggs. I still like nonstick and I love the show of stainless. Why can they just not make something that works like nonstick, tastes like I remember as a kid for cast iron and look as good as stainless?

I have stainless. The non stick is convenient, but I'm with the others who don't like the coating. I do use cast iron now and then, but only for certain things.

Non-stick all the way, I find them much easier to clean! I'm all about simple cleaning. I can't tell you how many times I tend to burn something and it comes right off with the non-stick pans.
