We are getting ready to remodel our kitchen, in which we will be doing most of the work (to help save money). I would love to be able to get stainless steel appliances but I'm thinking they are going to be very expensive. Is it possible to find some good used ones at decent prices?
I would never buy used appliances! You just don't know how long they will last. Stainless steel is the most expensive - but appliances last a long time. So save the extra money and get what you want - but buy new.
Sometimes you can check around at different appliance stores and see if they may be having a 'scratch and dent' sale. A lot of times they are marked way down and you can hardly see or find the scratch or dent.
I haven't seen a lot of newer model used appliances for sale. I think people usually hang on to them until they're really old or they sell them with a house. Scratch and dent or floor model sales can be good. Also, some good sales should be coming up in the next several months with President's Day and then Memorial Day.
I would wait until the early fall when prices start to drop for them, you can find tons of great deals that way. How much are you looking to spend not counting the appliances?
