Default Washing veggies

Does anyone have a good system for washing vegetables? Years ago I remember hearing that soaking fruits and vegetables in water and baking soda for a few minutes would get a lot of the pesticides off, but I don't know how true that it is. I hate the thought that my family could be eating poison every night, but I just don't know of any sure fire way to get produce clean.

I think there's a product sold to wash vegetables and fruit, but I've never tried it.

I have soaked produce in a solution of water and a little bit of vinegar to try to clean it.

I've seen that vegetable wash that is in the stores and I haven't tried it either. I believe there has to be a way to do this naturally without spending a lot of money. The vinegar idea sounds interesting. I think I'll try that, but how long do you soak it? And do you do that with both fruits and vegetables or just vegetables?

I tend to clean vegetables and fruits with baking soda and water and then rinse well. I hate the fact that there is wax on a lot of the fruits you get just to make them look good. As far as I'm concerned, it just holds in germs.
