I was talking to a friend who said he did not like to make bread with store bought yeast because it was the cheaters way. What? If he isn't using store bought yeast.... where is he getting it?

I hope someone knows the answer to this. I have always wondered how people made bread in the "old days" when you didn't go to the store to buy yeast packets.
