Default Blankets

I am thinking about making a couple people blankets this year for Christmas. The only problem is, I don't know what the blanket is called to look up the pattern.

The blankets are usually made out of fleece type material and all around the edge, there are strips of material that are cut and tied in knots. Do you know what I am talking about? Do you know the name of it?

I'm sure there are different names for these however we usually call them tie blankets. I have also heard them called Fleece No Sew blankets as well as Knot blankets. These are great gifts by the way!

Here they are called No-sew blankets. You don't need any pattern you just go buy fleece material and the cut in about 2 inches and tie them together. Very simple to make and very nice. We use 2 yards of each material (top and bottom) for adults and 1.5 yards for kids.

They do sound very nice but I have no idea what the name is. Sounds like something warm and cozy you would cuddle up with during a bad thunder storm when the power goes out.

I've made several for local women who are having babies and everyone loves them. One of the kids I made one for just turned 3 and he still has his John Deere "blankie" and takes it with him everywhere. He looks just like a little Linus with it. His mother has to steal it from him when he goes to bed and wash it and replace it before he wakes up or he goes ballistic!

Yes! Those are the blankets I was talking about. Boy, it sounds easier than what I was thinking. There is no sewing involved at all? For some reason I thought you had to sew the top and bottom together?

Thank you so much for given me the measurements also.

I am off to see if I can find some discounted fleece material.

Those blankets sound nice. I have never seen one before. I will have to search the internet and see what I can find. Maybe I will make a couple for Christmas presents this year as well.

Have you checked out fabrics.com? I have not used them but my neighbor orders from them and I know she loves the site. She talks about it often.

You can make them any size you want. If you want something bigger than the size you can buy, you may have to sew one together to make it bigger. I would assume you can make this to bed size if you wished.

Fabric stores have patterns or you can find information on making these on the internet. I think these are great. You can make them to match your mood or your favorite sports team. The only limitation is the fleece designs available at the store.
