Default Clay Recipes

Does anyone have any good homemade playdough or clay recipes they'd like to share that do not use flour? My toddler has Celiac Disease so she can't use storebought playdough and the modeling clay is very expensive.

There's a couple I know.

Homemade Playdough

Mix together 1/2 cup potato starch or corn starch, 1 cup salt, and 1 cup boiling water. Boil the mixture to what is similar to the soft ball stage. Knead it on waxed paper. Wrap it in a wet cloth and place in an air-tight container to keep it moist.

To make colors, add a few drops of food coloring.

Homemade Playdough

1 cup baking soda

1/2 cup cornstarch

2/3 cup warm water

Mix the baking soda and cornstarch in a pot and add the water. Mix until smooth. Cook over medium heat and boil until it reaches a mashed potato consistency, stirring constantly. Let cool and then knead. To add color, add food coloring while kneading. Placed in an air-tight container, this will store for a few weeks.

Can these recipes be used for your child?

Thank you Sally. This was perfect and just what I was looking for. I added yellow food coloring and lemon essential oil for scent. Way better than anything store bought....and safe for my babe!
