Default Making a teddy bear

I sometimes babysit my friend's daughter during the day and we do crafts occasionally. She has been asking me how to make a teddy bear. She is 8. Is it something simple enough for an 8 year old to do, especially since I don't even know exactly what I'm doing?

Maybe, instead of doing a traditional teddy bear, you can do a flatter version. You could also make a bear out of felt, because it is cheap and easy to sew. I will see if I can find a pattern to help you out.

I was going to say try making a felt Teddy bear, too. I think that would be an easy way to start, if you are not experienced. I found this picture, to give you a cute visual idea.

Cute idea! I have never done anything with felt but it seems simpler to start with. Maybe after I try that we can move on to a bigger project. Thanks for the ideas!
