Default New to Making Jewelry

I am new to making jewelry and I'm still learning. How do you get your beads, chains, clasps, and such? Do you have any tips for beginners?

I don't make fashion jewelry but a friend does. I once bought a few pairs of dangle earrings from her. I think she buys her materials from crafts stores. I'm sure there are also online stores that sell beads and other beading materials.

I knew a friend that did this years ago and she made me this crazy jeweled black and clear necklace made of what looks to be kind of marbled crystal glass. I love the idea, but I am not that crafty.

Glad I read this, I've been wanting to do this for sometime but just one of those things you keep putting off. Guess it would be best to start in a craft store to see what kind of materials they carry or if it would be better to go online to see if you could get things cheaper? Since I will just be starting out I don't want to waste any money!
