Default Rugs made out of plastic grocery bags

I heard somewhere that you can recycle, or I guess upcycle, plastic grocery bags to make rugs. Has anyone ever made them? How do they look? Are they hard to make?

This is a new one too me thats for sure, but I have no idea if I could pull it off or not. A friend of mine came over one day for a BBQ, we hit up the store and she mentioned it but she has not tried it either. If you find out let me know!

I've never seen anything like this before but it sounds cool. I don't think I would want one - wouldn't be too comfortable to lay on. I wish I could see some pictures though.

There was a thread on here awhile back about this. Several people had different suggestions on things you can do with the plastic bags. Go here to see them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they could be turned into nice-looking rugs, considering they can be turned into pretty much anything! I wonder if they would still maintain a plasticy feel, though?

I've seen pictures on the net of rugs made by this method, but it has been awhile and I can't remember where. I've also seen pictures of purses. They didn't look like plastic, but cloth material. I was surprised how good they looked. I would love to learn this, also!

It's an interesting concept and goodness knows we need to find more ways to recycle, but I'm not sure how they turn out. I'd worry about the rug having that plastic feel too.

Yes, it is a bit difficult to get used to. I've crocheted with plastic bags before. It's very slippery to work with but once you get used to it, it does make a surprisingly sturdy mat. I used them on the front porch by the door.

I have been saving my plastic bags for ages so that I could try and make some rugs. I read an article where a community group made blankets out of them and gave them to homeless people to help keep them warm and dry. I thought that was pretty cool.
