Default Sand dollars

We just got back from Jekyll Island, it was so much fun. My daughter collected many sand dollars (over 40) and now wants to make something for her friends as souvenirs. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do.

I'm thinking Christmas ornaments for the family... but what about friends? It's not close enough to Christmas yet to give them to friends.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Well, I don't have any ideas for you, but I'd like to say I'm jealous! We went to Florida for the first time this year and I wanted to go to Sanibel Island, but my husband was not too thrilled with that idea. Needless to say, all I found on the beach I went to was little chunks of sand dollars. I did find a couple of cool olives, though!

I can't wait to go back year after year. It was truly heaven! We didn't find any sand dollars until our last full day at the beach. I was amazed at how few people were there. It's more private than any other beach around Georgia.

I have a sand dollar that I bought at some tourist place. It's a real sand dollar and they took clear glaze with sparkles in it and painted over it. I hang it on my tree every christmas.
I also have a smaller one, it's glazed the same way, but this one has a magnet on the back. It hangs on the refrigerator now.

My aunt use to give these to use every time we would see her. She would paint on the tops of the sand dollars and then clear coat them so they would last longer. I still have a couple of them but with moving around as a kid some got broken or lost. I wish I lived by the beach so I can do that for my kids.
