Default Scrapbooking Glues

I'm trying to get into the scrapbooking craze and I'm a bit baffled about some of the glues that can be used for photos. I don't want anything that will end up as being clumpy under the picture but I also don't want anything too thin that may soak through the photos. I also saw adhesive-type tapes that can be rolled onto the back of photos. What are some key points that others follow when choosing glues? Has anyone found any particular pros or cons when choosing between actual glues and adhesives?

I use the little sticky tabs-or even better the photo corners. The glues are problematic as they tend to fall off when they get older and dry out. The tabs are a bit longer lasting.

I have had success with rubber cement in the past, although I'll admit I don't know how it holds up over a longer period (like several years). Double sided tape may serve the purpose as well.

My sister-in-law has her own scrapbooking franchise and she gave me one of those roll on glue dispensers. It's hands down the best thing I have used- for scrapbooking and crafts. It sticks instantly (not so good if you make a mistake), it holds very well and it's clean and compact. I've attached a picture so you can see what I mean.

I have never used glue while scrapbooking. I use the little tape dispenser the Elle posted. They work excellent. The most important thing to look for when buying scrapbook supplies is to make sure they are acid free. The acid is what turns the pictures yellow.
