Default Selling your creations

Have you tried selling any of your creations? I've made a couple tote bags and diaper bags for people but can't seem to get things going. I really enjoy doing what I do but I don't want to make all these bags and have them stored in a box in my room. How do I go about starting an online business that can be profitable and fun?

Try selling on eBay first. You have very little expense and you can always start a store on there if you get to selling quite a few of them. You can also get a store on Etsy and try selling your creations there.

Thank you for naming this site. I remembered reading about a site in a magazine where you could sell your products and couldn't think of the name.

Calliope is right on the money. These sites, and you could probably find a few others will let you sell your stuff through them. Otherwise, you could build up your stock and try local craft fairs and flea markets.

Why not try selling at craft shows in your area first? See if there is interest in your product. Of course you can sell them on e-bay or craigslist too.
Good luck!
I make a lot of crafts but I don't sell them.

I make picture candles and picture coasters and have sold a few in craft shows in my town. I have tried Ebay and Etsy with no success, I think with the economy and the amount of products on them it is hard unless you get something really catchy.

Ebay is tough these days because it has become so saturated. Unless you have something really unique or very rare, it's stiff competition.

I have some friends who sell at local flea markets with success. Also, I have a neighbor who has a sign out front advertising what she sells (wooden ornaments) and she seems to get some sales from that just from people passing by.

I guess I'll have to try the flea markets and craft shows around here because I have tried Etsy and Ebay but like one of you said it's stiff competition.

We also have a whole circuit of craft shows that a friend of mine does. She makes hairbows in school colors for little girls and a few other things too. They start in the summer and go all the way through late winter. Though they do get scarce around spring time when people are getting out and running around.

We used to have a kiln and made pottery years ago. We went to all the trade fairs around the county and managed to sell quite a few bits and pieces but ultimately we had to give it up as it became too expensive. I hope you have more luck.
