Default Teaching yourself to knit?

I would really love to learn how to knit, but there are no classes or anything near me. Is it hard to teach yourself how to knit?

I don't know that I would have the patience to teach myself. Now you might find a video or CD on this and that might make it easier if you are 'watching' someone show you how.

I taught myself to knit. I actually bought the book "Knitting for Dummies" and that is what I used. That year I made a couple of scarves as gifts for Christmas. My one issue with knitting is the counting thing. I get distracted easily and miscount all the time. I find crocheting is easier for me to do. I taught myself with the "Crocheting for Dummies" book. I just love that book series!

Do a Google search for videos that teach knitting. I think I saw several on YouTube if I'm not mistaken. I taught myself to knit pretty much on my own when I first started, but I learned a lot when I started watching some of the videos online.
