Default Womanly Arts?

I have been able to knit and crochet since I was a child. I was taught by an older cousin and learned to knit in 4-H when I was in school. I can also embroider and sew so I was trained well when I was growing up. Now, however, I have been noticing more and more men who have been learning these skills. There are even crochet designers who are male. I'm so glad to see this!

I am glad to see anyone learning how to do these things. These skills had started becoming "lost arts" so it is nice to see them making a bit of a comeback.

There is a whole subculture of younger people who are in college that are, not only learning but are designing and promoting the crafts. It seems to be knitting more than crocheting though.

I think that it is wonderful that younger generations are taking an interest in these things now. If they don't these skills may be lost forever!
