Default Wood glue

The next project we have is fixing up an older chest cabinet type that we have but the only thing I think will work is wood glue. We do need to re-screw the top pieces as well but I am thinking at least with the glue it can also be a "little helper project" for the young one.

Just be careful to wipe the seams when you finish. Once the glue hardens, it can be sanded off but it's hard to do. Other than that I don't see why the young ones couldn't help with things.

I agree that it's ok to let them help with the wood glue. I wouldn't let them use super glue or gorilla glue though- that stuff is potent.
My daughter helps out with crafts and things like that all the time. Have fun!

I don't think I could sand this chest as its very old, it could just as easily fall part knowing my luck with a sander. I love the chest and its been around in this family for a long time so I want to save it if I can.

Do you have clamps to make sure the pieces are really stuck together while they go through the drying process? Clamps are great to make sure you have a nice solid connection.

You have to sand it manually. Just wrap sandpaper on a piece of wood small enough to hold comfortably in your hand and go.
