Default Writing practice for little ones

I saw this on a teaching website, and I thought it was pretty neat. You just take a ziploc bag and put a couple of tablespoons of glitter paint in the bag. Seal the bag, and help your kids write their letters and numbers in the paint. My little one is big on textures so I know she will like this!

Cute trick and the kids would love this. I hate that they don't teach cursive in school anymore. I feel this is just as much a part of the education process now as it was when I went to school. I understand we do a lot of things on the computer these days, but they still need to know the basics too.

They don't teach cursive in school anymore? I was in school not too long ago and we had to learn it. I don't know though, I don't think it's all that important to know how to write in cursive. It was never useful for me in my adult life, unless I was signing my name.

I do think this is a cute idea for teaching. I try to avoid glitter at all costs so maybe I can find an alternative.

I imagine any kind of paint would work just as well even without glitter Finallyhome. I had no idea they weren't teaching cursive in school anymore!

That sounds like less of a mess than whiteboards are thats for sure, we have two in the house and the little flakes get everywhere. Right now we are working with pencils too which comes with a few concerns (flying objects).

I am going to try this tomorrow with my little girl, and I bet that she loves it! I can't believe they don't teach cursive anymore. I guess it doesn't really matter because in business you type or text, but it is still a nice skill to have. How will they know how to sign their names for documents?

Wow. Schools do not teach cursive handwriting anymore? That is a new one on me, too. I wish I would have known techniques on improving handwriting when my son was small. He has terrible handwriting! I think it is necessary. As Sarah has said, they will still need to know how to sign documents.
