Default Band-Aid Test

Before you start to paint a piece of furniture, in order to make sure you can paint over the paint or surface that's already on the furniture, place a Band-Aid on the surface and let set for a few hours. Then pull it off and see if the paint or finish stays on the furniture instead of the Band-Aid. If it comes up, grab the scraper, if not, it's safe to paint over.

Thanks for the tip. Of course it can't be some of those generic band-aids--they won't even stick to the skin and would be useless for this.

I have never really thought about that before. Will it work on any piece that has paint or furniture based only? I am wondering about something say like an older kitchen cubbie.
