Default Christmas Lights & Electric

Do you put up many Christmas lights to decorate your yard? If you add several strands it will increase your bill I am sure, but how much of an increase do you usually expect?

Unless you go Griswald style (from Christmas Vacation) it really shouldn't increase it by much. Maybe $10 or $15 more dollars a month. It's not like they are on all day only when it's dark.

That is about what I usually budget for. I had read posts from some people on another forum I frequent and they were saying their bill just skyrockets. I found that hard to believe since I usually run around 30 strands of lights and have only a $15-20 increase at most.

This is the first year that I haven't put lights up but in years past I didn't really notice an increase in my bill. I do have a pond in my backyard and when I put the heater in I see a bigger increase with that then the Christmas lights.

We haven't noticed any increases either. But of course that is one of the months we are using the furnace so it usually up anyway. We try to keep things reasonable during the winter but it gets so cold we have to turn up the furnace.
