Default Cut Flowers

I like having freshly cut flowers in the house every once in a while to add color. I have houseplants, but they don't bloom.

I also like drying the flowers after they've been in the vase for a few days to use on my mantel.

Do you dry your cut flowers?

I never have cut flowers in the house, I like plants but it makes me feel sad to watch cut flowers slowly die.

I only have them when there's a special occasion and someone gives them to me. Once in a great while we'll bring some of our own in but rarely. When I do have some, I don't dry them, no.

I know what you mean, justontime... it's why back when I did buy flowers once in a while, it was usually carnations because they last longer.

Everything dies.. it doesn't bother me.. i love flowers..

Hubby still brings me Roses on anniversaries and birthdays etc and i always cut the heads when they are dying and dry them. Roses dry very well. I have a big bowl on the dining room table with them all in, and i occasionally put in a drop or two of rose essence to scent the room..

I love having fresh flowers in the house. I haven't tried it yet but I read somewhere to put 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar in the water and they will stay fresh longer.

that depends alygirl... carnations and roses like a little sugar... or lemonade... and mums gardenias flourish when she puts a little steel wool in the soil...

never heard of using vinegar but it wouldn't surprise me...

I like flowers but I prefer ordinary garden flowers not the exotic cut flowers that you get from the florist. If anyone buys me flowers I give them away because I hate having them in the house, I can't stand the smell and just prefer to see things growing in the garden. I do have a few plants in the house.
