We live in a neighborhood that has some homes that really like to decorate the outside of. It is always fun to drive around and look at what some have done. They are all pretty but I look at them and think of how much trouble it is going to be to take it all down and put away again!
We call it "pretty light looking", and each year we load up the kids, put the Christmas CD in the radio, and drive around the neighborhood enjoying the beauty of the season. It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday hearing my kids exclaim over each decorated house we see.
This is one of our favorite things to do also. We once lived in a neighborhood that I think had a few houses that always tried to out do the other. It was really amazing to see how their homes looked all lit up!
We decorate the outside of our home every winter. It really isn't a big deal to take down. I like to see the decorations each night when I get home from work so that is why we do it.
I am looking forward to decorating our house this year. It's a project I will be doing next weekend. I like to be the first house in the neighborhood to have my decorations out! Plus, it's a bit of work so I like to enjoy them as long as possible! I'm still trying to plan what I want to do this year...I like to do something a little different each year.
We put up a few lights around the outside in front and something on the door but that's about it. We do have a lot of homes in our area too that go way out and it's fun to ride and around and see if they have outdone themselves.
I like to look at the lights but I don't like when people overdo it with the decorations in the yard. We have some people that put tons of stuff out there and it looks trashy.
We are planning to have a house like that this year and its going to take a good bit of work but it will be worth it in the end. This is the first year we will be going "all out" so I hope it looks okay in the end.
