I have a friend who buys new stuff every year. She buys new curtains, new bedding and new towels. She also buys some new decor items too. I can't afford it but her husband makes excellent money and they don't have any kids. I'm envious!
I never get rid of anything. I still have linens from my wedding shower. I hate to get rid of something that may come in handy again. I think I still have some of the kitchen towels, unused, that I had in my Hope Chest from when I was a teenager.
I don't like to get rid of something if it is still in good shape. I'll either give it to someone who can use it or save it to reuse later on. I don't usually replace something unless it really needs it.
If it is still in good shape and usable then I keep it. I don't have the money to replace things that are in good shape. I don't keep things that are in disrepair though.
I'm pretty much the same way. Unless it is really worn out, I will just put it up somewhere and save it for later. Now if I'm doing a real thorough house cleaning and getting rid of things, I will donate them if I haven't found any use for them yet.
I would not buy it unless I needed it. I am contantly buying new sheets and towels (I watch for clearance sales). The rest I don't buy unless they are needed.
