Default Don't throw out old hats!

My son came by with a plant the other day. It was in an old worn out, dirty, plastic pot. I went into the garage to look for something to put the plant in. I found an old straw hat my husband has and never wears. I got the idea to just flip it over and put the plant in there temporarily. It ended up looking so cute that I'm going to the store to find something to string it up with for a hanging planter.

How cute that sounds. It's surprising what we can find to use for certain things around the house. Even some old water pails make good planters for some plants. Just have a look around and use your imagination.

I am always surprised when it comes to finding extra uses for things. We throw away too much and reuse too little. I am always looking around the house before we toss anything out just to make sure it really has no use left.

I'm kind of like that too Cero. There are just some things that I hate to toss out if there is any possible way to reuse it again. Like that was a cute idea with that old hat.

Awesome idea for an old hat. I bet the hanging basket (hat) will look super cute. I am going to have to remember that! I love things that are "different" and that certainly is.

I don't throw things away ever! I'm a pack-rat and I'm always told to get rid of things. I hope I can find something neat like this and then I can say - told you so. If I got rid of this stuff I wouldn't have this neat thing.

I love this idea. Some of that old macrame cord would be just the thing to use for a pot sling. I'd forgotten all about when they were popular. Was it the 70s? Gee.

That sounds like a cute idea. You know, I see straw hats on lawn sales all the time for only a quarter or so. I think I'll watch for one and give this a try.

I have seen planters made out of old boots even, and they are as cute as they can be especially if they are in the right setting. Planters can be made out of just about anything.

That sounds adorable! I can envision a whole garden of "hat pots" and how neat that would look! You would definitely win any neighborhood gardening contests with that creativity.
