Default Homemade curtains

Have you ever made your own curtains? I want to replace all the curtains in my house and I haven't been able to find anything that I really like. It got me thinking that I might be better off finding some fabrics I really like and making my own. I can't imagine it would be that hard.

It really depends upon what kind you make. I've made a lot of curtains but the hardest I've made are the pinch-pleated, lined ones. Those were a challenge but I did manage it. If you just make unlined tab top ones or shirred ones that are unlined, they are very easy to make. The material can be expensive though.

That's not something I'd like to tackle! I can do simple sewing but not the more complicated things. I have made clothes before but they were the simple things.

I hate sewing by hand and cannot afford to buy a machine but our windows aren't standard size so I had to shorten my curtains. It wasn't difficult but a tedious job so I wouldn't like to make them from scratch.
