I am trying to make our house look homier and I can't decide what to put up on the windows in the dining room. Should I just go with valances or put curtains up too?

I love a pretty valance over blinds or a roll up shade. It just feels "right" to me. Everyone's taste is really different so I can't say what would "feel" right to you or appeal to you. Follow your own instincts. You are the one living there so you are the one who should be happy with it.
