We would like to lay laminate all through our home. It's all on one level so would be fairly easy I think but does anyone have any advice about possible pitfalls or things to be aware of?
I am a huge fan of the laminate "wood" flooring. That stuff is excellent for taking a lot of abuse. My advice would be to get the kind that has the sub layer attached on the back of each piece already. It's a lot easier and you can just cut and snap in place.
Thanks for that. We think it'll be easier than laying carpet because you can do it bit by bit and move the furniture around as you go. Also I can choose a lovely thick rug for the middle of the floor!
Just make sure you stagger the cutting lines. You know, put the cut line in the middle of the piece next to it. My son installed it in his home and put every seam side by side and it looks horrible.
When you bring the flooring home, do not install it the same day as laminate floors need a chance to get used to the environment in your home. Two to three days should be a good wait time.
Thanks a lot. There is some really handy information here and I have made note of it all. My husband is quite handy at DIY so hopefully we will manage to do a good job.
