I've always struggled with the tendency to keep my house like a little museum: clean, tidy, and a little too impersonal. I'm trying to find ways to express myself through my art and the layout of each room, but it just feels wrong. I'm no professional decorator, that's for sure. How can I get past my hang-ups?

If that's your style there is nothing wrong with that. I find family photos framed well, make a wonderful addition to any decor and truly make things your own. Are there things you like that you haven't placed in your rooms, add them. Use pillows and throws to soften things up a bit.

My problem is the opposite Hyacinth lots of clutter and bare impersonal walls. I keep saying I am going to do something to make it ours but so far no such luck.

Well, maybe that's your style. I live in clutter too but my mind is always going and I'm always doing one craft or another. I know people probably couldn't find things in my house but I can. That's what matters to me.
