Default Paint? Wallpaper? Paneling?

What do you prefer for your walls? Paint, wallpaper,
paneling, or something else?

My house is all paint except for a den upstairs which
is paneled. If I ever do wallpaper, I think it will just be
borders.

I like paint best, but I am just about to add some panelling to the lower part of the walls in the hall and up the stairs, I think it will be more hard wearing.

It does seem to be that, yes. And easier to clean than paint and wallpaper, too... and I like the look of it although I don't see much of it around any longer.

No, it is not as common as it used to be. I think it makes rooms look smaller, but I have pets and teenagers so I am fed up with things looking messy, hopefully the panels will look smarter.

There's something to be said for wallpaper, although I don't think I'll ever try it, not by myself at any rate. Some of the mural-type wallpaper is really nice.

We've wallpapered several walls in our first home, but just one wall in our current one. We did that to hide the imperfections in the wall that were noticeable when it was just painted. It's perpendicular to a very bright window that makes the slight dips in the wall more obvious.

Wallpapering with a significant other can be "interesting."

Has anyone here tried textured painting? I like the looks of that.

It is fairly easy to hang wallpaper, I have done it quite often, but my cats like to scratch it so I just keep my walls well plastered and painted

Oh my goodness, I don't even want to frighten myself with the thought
of *that!*

I haven't actually tried it when it comes to *doing* painting that way, but
that's how all of our painted walls were done when we moved here nearly
5 years ago. I like it a lot, too... but it makes things like putting up wall
paper borders very difficult.

When we moved here, the walls were already texture-painted. I like it when the paint is layed a little thickly, so the whorls and pattern shows up well on a sunny day. That's the way our living room is done, but the rest of the house is painted a little too thin for my taste.

I prefer paint. I have paneling in my living room and I cannot stand it. We are planning on taking it down next year and painting the room. I heard the glue is awful to get off though.
