It's almost easier, but more expensive, to just replace the ceiling with something you like better.

All of the scraping creates a mess throughout the home, and once you are done, you still have to figure out what you want to replace the texture with.

NO texture Sagemother

Less is more as they say.. a smooth clean ceiling is much neater. Got a local lad to plaster the ceilings with a thin layer of what he called 'skim' and it looks lovely now!

That's what I was going to ask, too... maybe I'd just resign to getting used to the design and just painting it a ceiling shade that I could live with.

I have heard of this method for finishing ceilings.

I imagine that you could do this yourself if you could practice the technique on scrap wood before doing the ceiling and save a ton of money.
