Default Repurposing Furniture

I was reading a magazine in the hospital the other day and I saw an article (I read a lot so I can't remember which magazine it was) on re-purposing furniture. They had taken a small square or rectangular table and placed a small bookcase on top of it. Voila! it made a tall hoosier type cabinet to place in your kitchen or all purpose room. You do need to paint or do some type of finish on the two pieces to "marry" them together but it was a great idea!

Wow! I like that idea! I'm sure I have several pieces out in the garage that I can use to do this. I like shabby chic so I would love to do this. I like to decorate my house like an old farmhouse. I'm comfortable that way and if something gets knocked around or scratched it's not a great tragedy. I never was one for elegant!

I've done this with a plastic chest of draws that were all broken. I just put a nice table cloth over it which I had made myself. Very easy just get the length of material you want and sew the edges under. You can't see any of the draws or plastic and it makes a nice little table.

That sounds nice Mel! I have a small dog kennel in my living room that I did the same thing to. Sometimes one of mine need a time out and I just lift the cloth and put them in and put the cloth back down. They get a much needed time out without everyone bothering them and they are much nicer when they've had a small nap-yeah, it works for dogs too
