Default Uses for Unconventional Items

I have thought and thought of this and I don't know if it would work or not. I would like to take some wooden crates and bind them together someway to make a type of bookcase out of them. They aren't terribly sturdy but I'd like to try it anyway. Does anyone have any other unconventional ideas for decorating?

That's an interesting idea CricketKiller. Are you going to paint them afterwards or just leave them as is? It would look really great in a shabby chic decor area. I've taken old aprons and tied them together and used them for a valance for my kitchen. You can also take a piece of cloth clothes line cord and string it above your window and hang cloth napkins from the cord with clothes pins. They look better if you hang them with to make a triangle dangling down than straight.

Hmmmmm, sounds interesting. I've seen some of the crate type stuff sold in decorating magazines designed to just stack haphazardly as a decor statement. If I remember correctly they had a company label on every one that was either orange or strawberry related. They were really cute.
