Angry Banking Fees

I just got an overdraft notice from BofA because they charged me an $8.95 monthly maintenance fee with no warning! Check your bank statements guys!

Is this a regular maintenance fee that you have to pay-perhaps annually? If it is then they have no need to warn you. I know it sucks a great deal-the whole system is set up to catch you out.

I always check my statements and my bank account each month. Ouch! though how did you get an overdraft letter for $8.95 - you didn't have $9 in the account to cover that and then fight it? That stinks!

Never had to deal with this and I use BOFA a great deal (both personal and business), then again anytime anything is crazy on a bill I am on the phone in a heartbeat too. Have you checked past bills?

Sounds like this one kind of blindsided you? You've never seen this fee before? I'd be on the phone so quickly asking what the fee was for and why it had never appeared before. Then I'd insist any overdraft fees be backed out.

Calling the bank would certainly help in knowing why you had an overdraft. It can be for an annual fee, like what Hamster said, because they didn't give you a warning of that fee.

Geez, I don't think I've paid a bank fee in...oh, I'd say about 8 years. I would definitely call and find out what the heck. I have two accounts - one with a small, local bank and one with Chase - and neither one of them charges me monthly or annual fees.

Also, if you have more than one account with BofA, I would want to know why one account didn't back up the other in the case of an overdraft.

Do you know why they charged you the fee? I would call customer service and ask them to explain why you were charged. I don't have bank fees with them because I have direct deposit with my employer.

I would call the bank too to see what the charges are for. What bank do you use? Have you ever had an overdraft before on this account? I bet they would reverse it if you have not and you called them.

Anytime you find something that is different with any financial matter, it's time to call and find out what is going on. I wouldn't sit still and not do anything. Maybe it was a mistake on their part and they could rescind it?
