Default Buying Fresh Produce

What I don't grow, I usually buy at the farmer's market. I went the other day to pick up a few things and the prices were outrageous. Seems like that it's become fashionable to buy home grown produce from the farmer's market. A tomato was $2.00!!! Needless to say, I didn't buy much and am going to make up the deficit by using everything I have in my garden.

Yep. I've noticed. We don't even go these days. I usually just buy canned or frozen. I have some produce coming on in the garden now though so I'll be doing some freezing/canning this year so we can stretch our grocery money.

The prices at our farmers market is still pretty good. I think it is because more than half the community gets their fruits and veggies from the farmers markets instead of the grocery store.

Wow, it is really nice that your community is pulling together like that. Lately there have been initiatives like that here, but they have not been very successful so far.

We have tried to grow a few things this year, but its so hot now everything is struggling and not producing much. I just got back from Walmart and we spent $40 on produce that probably won't make it all the way through the week.
