Default Car woes

I have been doing very well in the past few weeks but now I need to have my brakes fixed. I had no money set aside for this. I have had someone offer to do it who used to work on cars for a living. Should I let them do it?

If you feel comfortable with it, I see no reason why not. I have a friend who is a back yard mechanic and has done brakes on his own vehicle before. I'm handy when it comes to auto's, but I still have someone do the brakes. They just make me nervous. Just like doing electrical work around the house.

I think that fitting new brake pads is a fairly straightforward job and if he has done it before you should be OK. You will have to pay for the parts but, in my experience, it's always the labour charges that hike the bill up, so your friend should save you a lot of money.
