I have been on a shut off protection plan for almost a year now to catch up a past due balance and keep up with current payments at the same time. The power company estimated that monthly payments of $134 would have the past due caught up in 1 years time, but it didn't so now I got a bill saying the payment is going up to $232! We were struggling to make the $134 a month payment for goodness sakes!

Wow, that's a lot for it to go up! It went up almost a hundred dollars! I would call your power company and tell them you cannot afford it. See if they can help you. That's crazy!

That is totally crazy that they would raise it that much on you. I would definitely call them and give them a piece of your mind.

I agree with calling them and seeing if you can negotiate something that you can do to catch up and not break your piggy bank. Let them know you cannot pay any more. Everything is going up in price. Honestly, I don't know how we all are going to make it.

That is quite a gross underestimation of what your bill should have been if it is going up $100 a month! I would definitely call them and work out some other way to get caught up.
