Default Cutting To The Bone

What have you eliminated from your budget that used to be a routine thing? We have given up cable or satellite TV because it just became way to expensive for us to use. We have gone to listening to the radio and watching Hulu and Netflix online or on streaming TV. We have also gone to a prepaid cell phone that costs us only $20 a month for my husband and I. It's not saving any money, but it has allowed us to place the money in other, more important things like food.

We cut a lot out last year, but it wasn't enough. Now we are going back and doing a second round. It looks like the cable TV is the next casualty.

We haven't had cable in years and we have tracfone plans where it's $16 a month for the two of us. I'm considering dropping the house phone, but it will really only save a couple of bucks a month. We don't have anything else we can cut out without starting to cut meals (for the adults not the kids). If food prices go much higher that's going to be a real possibility until hubby bags a deer.

If I could get good cell reception, I'd drop my phone. However, I can't any cell reception at my house. We live in a valley and it's really hard to call out unless we go to the top of the hill. I'm reluctant to drop the land line in case of emergencies.
