Default cutting down on dryer use

When you have pets, I guess there's no way around having a lot of pet hair collect in the dryer's lint trap. I've started cleaning it out a couple of times during the drying cycle. It's a little more hassle, but it cuts down the drying time by quite a bit. Just wanted to pass this along!

I clean mine out a few times a week but everyone keeps me pretty busy too when I am doing laundry two and three times. I was thankfully given the chance yesterday when I finished up with work to come home to 4 loads sitting there waiting for me.

Interesting idea. I usually clean mine out once after every use. I didn't think to stop it in the middle of the process. How much time would you say it cuts down on?

Busybella, I do this too and it really does help especially with loads that you know are especially linty. I'd say it knocks about 10 minutes off my drying time. Every little bit helps!

I try to remember to do this, especially when it's towels that have been used on the dogs. Talk about lint! But, really, it helps with any load. When I forget until the end of the cycle, I usually have a huge amount of lint and things are often still damp. You can easily cut down your drying time by maybe one-third, possibly more with some loads.

The easiest way save on the dryer is to hang up your clothes before they're dry. I like to dry them enough to get the wrinkles out, and then hang them up while they're still very damp.

That is a great idea and one I never thought of. I was thinking this was going to be a post about hanging clothes out on the line. I do this! Every time I open the dryer when the cycle is done the lint trap is full. I am going to start cleaning it out half way through to see if it speeds up the drying time.

I clean it after every use. Cleaning it halfway through the drying process is a good idea, but I'd probably never remember to run back in the laundry room to do that.
