Feeling Free Believe me, I know it's hard not to live by the almighty credit card. It's gotten my family into trouble more than once in my lifetime, but as a potential motivation to those who wonder if they'll ever get there, let me say that once you do overcome the hurdles, the freedom from not being in debt is so powerful. You'll never feel as free as when you don't owe anything but your monthly obligations. I highly recommend it.

I think I've had a credit card debt 1 time in my life. No more. The only piece of plastic I have anymore is my bank card. My limit is what's in my account, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Kudos, Bryon and Rampart! I've had times when I've had credit cards and times I haven't. The times that I haven't, I've simply waited until I've had the cash to make a purchase. It's a much better way to live than having credit cards to pay on top of everything else every month!

I just can't even describe the peace of mind that is associated with not being in debt. There are enough other stresses in the world without this very difficult one.

Thank you for the strong words of motivation. I have been feeling very down lately but you make me want to really work hard to become free of my debt.

At this point in my life I don't have a choice. I have two car payments and that is it. My credit score is too bad to get a credit card. I wish I had one for emergencies though.

Im in good company here. I had to learn that cash is king the hard way though. I had a ton of credit card debt and it took years to pay it off. I have an emergency fund that I only use for emergencies. Christmas presents are not an emergency! My car breaking down...now that's an emergency. It took me years to figure that one out!

My husband and I both have one credit card each and we have them only for emergencies. Neither one has a balance right now, thankfully. I've been seriously in debt in the past for no good reason and I never want to go through that again.

It takes a lot of strong will and just hanging in there. For me, it took years as well. The thing is, once you've been there and get to the feeling free point, keep that feeling. It will keep you from repeating the same mistakes. Stress kills, and I'm delighted not to have that one particular stress anymore.

I know exactly what you mean and I love how you use the word freedom. If you are not in debt, that is exactly how you feel and it is as though a huge burden is lifted off your shoulders.
