Default Grad cards?

How much are people giving these days for high school graduations? We were invited to 2 parties this year (not too bad) – 1 is a close friend’s son and the other is a distant cousin. I’m not sure what the “going-rate” is now for grad gifts. Thoughts? Do you think money or gas cards?

Most of the time the ones I got were from work office people wishing me a happy birthday or after our kids were born who gave us Starbucks cards. The only gift cards I ever got were not for graduation which is weird, when did that start?

I don't know if there is a going rate. With everyone having to tighten their belts it has become more optional. Starbucks cards are a great idea for a grad who is going on to college!

Not sure of the "rate' either, but I agree with millie. People understand that everyone is affected by the increasing prices so they don't expect a lot about gifts anymore, except for kids maybe?
