Default Kids and saving Money

How soon do you teach your kids about saving money? I think it's a good idea to start them young about teaching them to save. Especially if it is something they are wanting bad enough. Possibly it will help them as they get older and start wanting a car or something big!

We started teaching our kids as soon as they started getting an allowance, around 5 years of age. We made them put a certain amount in a bank account and allowed a certain portion for it "blow".

I wish we had started doing that with our kids. Our kids think money pours out from the skies. Of course we could try to teach them now, since they aren't out of their childhoods yet. It's amazing the things that kids will ask for these days and expect it to just magically appear before them. Sheesh!
