Default Local store deals versus Walmart

My husband came home with a flier from one of local grocery stores and said I should shop there this week because they had some great deals. After going over it, what I saw is that they had great deals compared to what their regular prices are, but they still can't beat Walmart. At best, their sales match Walmart prices. Do you notice the same thing where you live?

I usually get canned goods, paper towels, and detergent at discount groceries and dollar stores. For almost everything else, I go to Walmart. And I agree with you about deals. Sometimes it's smoke and mirrors with stores inflating their regular prices so that their "sale price" looks that much better.

I find that the more expensive grocery stores offer amazing sales to get you into their stores in the hopes that you will buy their regular priced items too. So what I do is go to the expensive stores and only buy the sale items (with coupons of course) and then I buy everything else I might need at Walmart.

Also the expensive stores often offer double coupons and Walmart does not.

I shop at three or four different stores and know the cheapest prices at each one. Walmart is cheap overall but they don't have the great sales. If you shop the sales and take advantage of double coupons, the regular grocery stores are the way to go.

Honestly, no. Our local grocery store prices are a lot lower than Wal-mart when they run sales. Our Wal-Mart prices have been on the rise lately... Our local stores also double coupons and Wal-mart does not.

It all depends on what I'm shopping for and if I have a coupon. I have found the Dollar stores are the cheapest with laundry soap/cleaning supplies. Some of the food items are cheaper at Wal-mart - but usually if a store is running a sale and I have a coupon the price is usually lower at the store.

The grocery store that I go to is pretty cheap compared to Wal-mart. As much as I absolutely loathe Wal-mart, it is sometimes the only place that I can find certain things at a price that is anywhere close to decent.

I will double coupons at our local place rather than deal with Walmart. Too many places are going out of business because of mass chain stores like this and from what I hear, they treat some of their staff pretty cruddy.

My local grocery stores, have way higher prices than Walmart. When the local stores do have sales, I just get Walmart to price match the deals.

Yep, Wal-Mart is terrible for these reasons. They run smaller stores out of business and they aren't environmentally friendly either. I need money but I can't justify going to Wal-Mart unless it's an emergency.
