Default As prices rise...

I know we all keep stressing about rising prices, but what I want to know is what are we going to do when it gets to the point where we can't afford groceries? For my job, I had to talk to a financial analyst today and he said he expects that within the next six months everything is going to go even higher.

My husband went to the grocery store for a few basics the other day and it cost $110. He didn't get anything extra and it was literally basics - no chips, juice, frozen food, etc. I am really starting to stress now.

Wow, $110 for basics. I don't think I've ever paid $110 at any grocery trip (unless it was to Sam's Club). You will have to shop the sales and use coupons. I agree that prices are going to keep rising, I just don't know what we can do about it.

This problem is just going to get worse. For my family we have pulled most of our stock contributions for retirement, and are now using that money to stock up on food and other essentials. We are also gardening and planning to hunt one thing my family will not do is go hungry or not for awhile anyway. We have large quantities of canned goods and dried beans stocked up so that we can stay fed. Our family has felt for awhile that another Great Depression type era is fast approaching and it's either be prepared or go hungry.

That is why we have to learn how to be super duper extra frugal. We started a garden, buy eggs from a local farmer and have learned to make our own bread (which is cheaper).

That is what I am saying, heck I still visit the store once a week but I am never spending 110 bucks on basics. What exactly did he buy either with you knowing or without? That is crazy!

We've started growing a garden also and trying to buy extra when there is a good sale going on. I've even started canning veggies now from our garden so it's a start anyway.

I'm telling you - prices in my area are ridiculous. Here is my list from that trip:
Bottled water (we have to buy bottled because there is something wrong with our well water)
Milk
Olive oil
Dog food
Soap
Tuna
Corn tortillas
Cheese
Eggs
Pasta
Olives
Granola bars
Crushed tomatoes
Bottle of wine
And a bunch of fresh produce

The dog food was $10, so that brings the rest of it down to $100. It's insane. And when I say "basics," I mean there was no meat, fish, etc. on the list. God forbid I have to buy any of that, lol.

Oh, and there were also no paper products, cleaning products, what have you.
