Have you heard about the rebates that are being offered by the US government as part of the stimulus package for people to buy new energy efficient appliances. They are giving rebates up to $200 on new appliances purchased. This might be a great time to go and buy the deep freeze we've been wanting. Here's more info:

Sadly, I just re-did the kitchen last year, and washer/drier was replaced earlier this year.

I think this is a great idea. Does anybody know if there is a list of appliance that they say you can buy? I just glanced over the article but am not seeing it. I do need a new washer and dryer--wonder what brand is acceptable to buy?

I don't think it's a particular brand or even any particular appliance. I think it just has to be an "energy star" rated appliance (you know those little yellow tags they have on the appliances).

The program hasn't started yet, but I may just be replacing my washing machine when it does. I'm sure more information will be coming as the start of the program gets closer.

I need a new refrigerator and stove. I had to pass up on the cash for clunkers program. I might just take advantage of this one.
