Default Resizing The Family Dinner

We have all decided that we just make too much food for our family to eat. I was making tons of pies, cakes, pumpkin rolls, every type of cold salad such as potato salad, macaroni salad, so on and so forth. So the families who come to our dinner make a few dishes, we provide the turkey and the ham and a few other things and together we still have plenty! It's a lot more cost effective and a lot less work on us all. What have you done to trim the family budget at Christmas Time?

We are going on the mini side of things too, and the holidays tend to bring the worst out in us (loosen the belt any). I think as we get older some of us realize the importance of healthy eating and not over stuffing, a few get lost though. I am thankful we caught on quick!

Yeah, we have sort of sized things down a bit too. It's just too much to do the dinners that Mom used to do. We would have every bit of counter space, table space and then still have cakes and pies stacked out on the washer and dryer waiting for the dessert course. It's just too much any more.

We are trying to learn to do this on a daily basis. I tend to cook in batches on the weekend so as not to have to cook during the week, but we have been making way too much. Then everyone is sick of eating what is already cooked! Like tonight there is BBQ chicken and hamburgers in the fridge...I would rather have anything but that!

I think this is something we should not only do around the holidays but also during normal dinners too. Even some people have issues with their lunches, who needs a super size. I have never met someone that actually needs that much food, they just want that much food.

That's a great idea, ash. I really, really need to cut down on the amount I cook. I tend to go overboard when I cook stuff and I really need to stop it. I usually just throw it out when we get tired of it. I procrastinate about putting food in the freezer and then it usually is bad by the time I get to it.
