We always tell our kids to save for what they need not for what they want. We would rather they help out and if they really "want" something we can find a way to get it for them, if they show a serious interest. Too many kids have an interest for a split second and then its gone, why waste the cash?

You are so right about that. Too many times you see a kid that just has to have 'such and such' then with in a day or two after getting it, looses interest. Best to make them work for it and maybe they will appreciate it more when they get it. (maybe?)

I know some parents who spoil their kids and most of the toys are never even touched. Then they go to the trash can, get donated or tossed out but most times its trashed. I see no point in this other than wasting money.
